You don’t need to be in the United States to get a literary agent in the United States, if that’s what you’re asking. Most American literary agents are open to working with authors abroad. They also help authors get their work published in additional countries, and assist with other subsidiary rights including film/TV.

Hi, since our phone talk I’ve emailed 300 agents with our dyno-mite query letter, using the emails from your list. (All except QueryTracker users.) But when I go to an agent website, they often want a sample of the book as well. Am I making a mistake, should I always go to the website? Only one or two agents have followed up asking for a sample.
(A good thing, the old opening had a problem that I’ve fixed, too many italicized Spanish words. You mentioned this, but I didn’t realize that EVERY italic word can be a stopper, authorial intrusion. Now there are almost none.) Thx, LC
