I am an author of fifteen e-books and am well into my sixteenth. My genre is commercial fiction and I hooked up with Smashwords because my query letters and door knocking achieved nothing but frustration. My website, www.caperscove.net, provides a good overview if what I’m all about.
Smashwords has distributed my work to retailers all over the world, but without aggressive marketing efforts the sales results have been disappointing.
I have had encouragement from well-known authors or their staffs, such as Stuart Woods, Lee Child and Clive Cussler, but that’s about it.
Ther are a lot of scammers out there claiming to be literary agents, but I quickly learned they couldn’t sell a bible to a man or woman of the cloth.
I write novels because I enjoy the creative process and was never motivated solely by goals. However, I would like to achieve a substantial readership to satisfy my ego and I certainly wouldn’t turn my back on financial rewards.
I know my situation is not unique. From what I’ve learned from my research, there are many aspiring novelists out there who are running into the same walls as I am.
I would be interested in opening a channel of communication with one or more of your literary agents to see where it might lead.
