Hey Mark, I am batting zero as far as finding any literary agents accepting queries, I have redone mine and think it’s so much better but any ideas as to how to gain access?
THANK YOU, Paula
Hi Paula,
Once you’ve done all you can with your pitch material, the only thing left is querying every agent and publisher possible for each book. Not easy, but that’s the only thing left. If you’ve pitch everyone for the first book, time to possible start thinking about pitching the next book, etc.
Don’t give up too soon,

Mark,
I am not looking for an agent. I’m an award-winning author and have worked with three different publishers. I have a historical fiction trilogy coming out now. Book One is already on Amazon and B&N websites. Book Two is about a month from release and Book Three has been submitted.
Here’s my problem. I do not like social media and have always avoided it. I’m 82 and dread developing a web-based author platform. My email list has 200 addresses.
What other options do I have to promote my books?
Hi Dick,
I don’t offer a service for that, unfortunately. Everything I have is geared toward getting a literary agent. But you’ll find many people online willing and able to assist with that type of work. I don’t have a list of names, but Google will yield many. If you want/need help with anything else, you can post again here at https://getaliteraryagent.com/ask-a-literary-agent/.
I’ll do what I can to point you in the right direction.
All my best,
– Mark

I have written a historical fantasy novel and am at the beginning of my query process. Do you think it’s a good idea to use Publishers Weekly website to determine which agents have sold most frequently to this genre’s publishers like Tor and Orbit, among others? I feel like it’s really hit-and-miss as the genres agents indicate they are interested in are often so broad. Thank you.
Hi Bettina,
You can certainly do some research that way, but it’s incredibly time consuming and more important to simply query a lot of literary agents, prioritizing those who are generally more successful and interested in your genre based on what you see in their bios.

Where do I specifically look on your excellent agent site if I need an experienced lit agent who can pitch my new traditionally published book (fiction) for film & TV? Longtime member here!
Hi Diane,
If you’re talking for books, most successful literary agents pitch their authors’ work for film/TV/streaming. Some handle it themselves, whereas other work with co-agents/sub-agents.
