I am a photographer, and my wife is a poet. We have a book completed, that is very unique. The photography is all infrared color and the subject matter is the moon.The book is 90 pages long and there are 50 images in infrared, they are of the moon goddess Luna and they are exceptional nudes, photographed in a classic style. We have a sample copy of this in hard bound. I have also created an illustrated history of my 50+ years as a free-lance magazine glamor photographer to prove my credentials. I believe that infrared photography is a salable subject as the James Webb infrared space telescope will be a topic of discussion for years to come, and that will help sell our book. I am looking for an agent or a publisher who might be interested in this material. Are you available to to discuss this?

Hi! I’ve self published a children’s book (I have no agreements with any publishers). I have not marketed it other than selling to some locals in my area who are familiar with me or my mother (a well known local artist who illustrated it for me at 82). So I have a finished product to share and I’m ok if changes are recommended. The name of the Book is Chickenfeather Grits. I’d like to try to have it formally published but don’t know if I should submit to an agent first or go directly to a publisher. I have a digital copy that I can submit but was looking for advice on whether I should do that.

Good day, I was hoping to find out if it is truly better to start down the literary agent route first instead of self-publishing. With self-publishing, you retain the book rights. If I find a traditional publisher with an agent later, I can always take down the self-published book and hand over the rights to the publisher. At least with self-publishing, I can learn more about the market for my book idea. Thoughts on this approach?
