This is a question about the listings. When an agent starts their listing with things like MG, YA, PB etc. then goes onto specific genres i.e. fantasy, horror etc. does that mean they only want MG, YA, etc. and no adult fiction?

Hello,
I am curious how you winnow down the list of agents to decide who you should target first. I did a search for agents who represent Memoir but over 800 come up. I want to effectively target who will be the best match and most likely to want to see more of my work. It is challenging to know exactly how to rank such a large list.

The short answer is there are only about 600 taking submissions, and you should start with those who have more experience and accomplishments, which you can see scanning their bios.
