An Australian writer is seeking to enter the US market with chapter books. Is it common for an author to have an “overseas” book agent, or should he first get an agent in Australia? He belives the book would suit a US audience.

Many countries don’t have literary agents, or many, so trying to get a literary agent in the United States is a good idea, especially if you believe the book has appeal for the American market.
