When a literary agent says you need to fill out an online form, that means they have a place somewhere on their website where you can/should send them the material they want/need. Agents now require sample chapters and synopsis be pasted into the body of an email. This results in the sample material reverting to single spaced format when pasted in. Is it necessary to change this material to double space format in some way, or do agents not care about this line spacing issue?

Different computers and email platforms cause different issues. It’s common. Do the best you can. Agents (should) understand it’s part of the reality writers are facing.

After a fiction novel is signed by a publisher what is the typical waiting period before release? Does an agent speed up the publication process?

9-18 months for most books, if it’s with a major publisher, allowing them to do a good job with the book…everything from editing to printing/distribution to marketing.
Having an agent doesn’t necessarily speed up the process, unfortunately.
