1. I could not find a single agent in your database who is interested in representing a book on bereavement, my topic. How can I find such an agent? Contact specific authors? Go to the AAR?
2. Once I find this agent, I assume that I would not submit a Query Letter but a proposal instead. Is that right?
Hi Adam,
I’d need to talk with you to be sure which types of agents you should query. Sounds like agents who say they handle Self-Help and/or General Nonfiction. And you need to send each agent what they ask for. Some say query only. Some say query and proposal. Etc.

Dear Mark. Excuse me my mistakes, I don’t know well English. Thank you for the email newsletters. I read your Guides about How to Get a Literary Agent, How to Write a Query Letter etc. from your Websites. Hope I understood this system but I have a question. If for foreign book will be the same rules (query letter, synopsis, sample pages or chapters etc.), the same rights (North American book rights) and subsidiary rights (international rights, translation rights (translation by translater of american Publishing House (English version))etc.)? Thank you. Merry Christas! Augustin Nacu
Hi Augustin,
Did you get my reply below?
I think my website my comment reply system was having an issue, but I’m not sure.
I’m resending my reply in case you didn’t get the first one.

Thank you for your kind message. You made me smile. And please don’t worry about your English writing to me. Just make sure it’s good when querying agents!
If you’re asking about you being outside the United States, trying to get an agent in the United States, everything is the same, in my experience. I’ve helped approximately one dozen authors outside the United States get agents here.
If, instead, you’re asking about getting a literary agent in another country, that can vary a bit, and I don’t know much about that, unfortunately.
